Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning/Cx Lead for a brand-new hyperscale data centre project in Rogaland, Norway. You will lead the mechanical package through L1–L5 commissioning, IST and final handover, coordinating with electrical and BMS teams from early construction onward.

The role requires 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical commissioning, with proven hyperscale data centre exposure and strong leadership and QA/QC capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of mechanical commissioning experience.
• Previous hyperscale data centre experience essential.
• Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, drawings and specs.
• Proven leadership, planning and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead L1–L5 commissioning, IST and handover on a hyperscale data centre project.
• Commission chillers, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, chillers and ventilation systems.
• Drive readiness, testing, tagging, defect management and commissioning programmes.
• Manage mechanical subcontractors, vendors and commissioning teams.
• Coordinate with Electrical, BMS/BAS and Controls teams.
• Lead functional testing and IST failure scenarios at L4/L5 levels.
• Develop commissioning procedures, scripts and handover documents.
• Support integrated testing across mechanical and electrical services.
• Oversee QA/QC and energisation readiness.

Mechanical Commissioning/Cx Lead - Hyperscale Data Centre Project - Rogaland, Norway - €Excellent Day Rate + Flights, Accommodation & Car - 24 Month Contract - ASAP Start - 17/5 Rotation

We are supporting the delivery of a brand-new hyperscale data centre development in Rogaland, Norway and are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning/Cx Lead to join the project from the early stages of construction through commissioning, IST and final handover.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major European data centre project from the beginning, helping establish the commissioning strategy and leading the mechanical package through L1–L5 commissioning.

Responsibilities:

• You will take responsibility for mechanical commissioning across the project, including:
• Leading L1–L5 commissioning, IST and final handover
• Commissioning chillers, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, chilled water and ventilation systems
• Driving system readiness, tagging, testing, defect management and commissioning programmes
• Managing mechanical subcontractors, vendors and commissioning teams
• Coordinating closely with Electrical, BMS/BAS and Controls teams
• Leading L4 functional performance testing and L5/IST failure scenarios
• Reviewing and developing commissioning procedures, test scripts and handover documentation
• Supporting integrated testing across mechanical and electrical building services
• Managing QA/QC and ensuring systems are ready for energisation and integrated testing

Requirements:

• 5–10+ years' Mechanical Commissioning experience
• Previous hyperscale data centre experience is essential
• Strong understanding of L1–L5 data centre commissioning methodology
• Strong HVAC and chilled water commissioning knowledge
• Experience with CRAH/CRAC, AHUs, chillers, pumps and associated controls
• Experience developing commissioning procedures, scripts and QA/QC documentation
• Good working knowledge of BMS/BAS and integrated building services
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings and technical specifications
• Strong leadership, planning and stakeholder management experience
• Experience with liquid cooling, CDUs, secondary cooling loops, heat exchangers and leak detection systems would be highly advantageous.
