Job summary

Baker Hughes in Stavanger, Norway, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Downhole Tools to drive mechanical design and qualification of wireline and downhole technologies. You will lead analysis, prototyping, testing, and commercialization in a collaborative, global engineering team.

Required is a Mechanical Engineering degree (Master preferred), strong CAD/FEA skills, and experience in downhole tool design. English fluency is essential; Norwegian is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (Master preferred) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in downhole tool design within wireline, completions, drilling, or intervention.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and FEA software (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS).
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex technical assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, analysis, and development of wireline tools from concept to commercialization.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis including stress, fatigue, and FEA.
• Develop drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and technical docs.
• Plan and execute design verification and qualification testing.
• Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
