Job summary

Voith Hydro AS in Norway is seeking an HSE Manager to implement and improve the HSE Management System across operations, ensuring safe and compliant execution of all activities. You will act as the primary HSE advisor to senior leadership, promoting a Zero Incident culture and maintaining a strong field presence.

The Voith Hydro Division is a worldwide provider of hydropower technology and services. In Norway, Voith Hydro AS acts as a turnkey supplier of new hydropower facilities, power plant control systems, and modernization projects for turbines and generators, as well as comprehensive service and maintenance solutions. The company employs 173 people across its offices in Oslo, Trondheim, and Fredrikstad and reports annual revenues of NOK 580 million.

Voith Hydro AS is actively engaged in a broad portfolio of hydropower projects throughout Norway and has a strong outlook for the future. As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our HSE organization and are looking for an HSE Manager to join our team. Working in close collaboration with our existing HSE Manager, you will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture and supporting the successful delivery of our projects.

Reporting Line: Managing Director Voith Hydro AS, and functionally to the Regional Head of HSE.

Role Purpose

The HSE Manager is responsible for implementing and continuously improving the VHE HSE Management System within the Norwegian organization and ensuring safe, compliant and efficient execution of all operational activities.

The role acts as the primary HSE advisor to the Managing Director, drives a Zero Incident culture, maintains a strong field presence, and ensures HSE is fully integrated into project delivery, field service, workshop activities and business operations.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture

Drive a proactive safety culture across the the company.

Lead implementation of VHE HSE standards, Life Saving Rules and STOP Work Authority.

Conduct regular sites, workshop and field service visits.

Challenge unsafe conditions, behaviors and decisions.

Coach leaders and employees to improve HSE performance.

Local functional leadership of HSE coordination function

Operational HSE Management

Ensure effective management of operational risks.

Verify implementation of critical risk controls.

Support safe execution of high-risk activities.

Manage contractor HSE performance.

Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.

Ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.

Ensure compliance with legal, customer and VHE HSE requirements.

Maintain and improve the local HSE Management System.

Performance & Reporting

Monitor and report HSE performance.

Identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.

Provide transparent reporting to the Managing Director and Regional Head of HSE.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Engineering, HSE or related discipline.

NEBOSH IGC or equivalent.

Minimum 8 years HSE experience within hydropower, offshore oil & gas, offshore wind, energy, OEM, EPC or heavy industry.

Experience leading incident investigations and contractor management.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong proficiency in Norwegian, both written and spoken, as this is essential for carrying out the responsibilities of the position.

Preferred

NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification.

Formal incident investigation training.

Experience within major projects or high-risk operational environments.

Industry Background

Experience from the hydropower industry is considered an advantage; however, candidates with relevant HSE experience from other industrial, energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors are also encouraged to apply.
