Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Norway is seeking an experienced senior HSE advisor to lead and strengthen our Health, Safety & Environment culture across our Norwegian operations for the Grid Integration business.

You will collaborate with leaders and project teams to drive a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with laws and Hitachi Energy policies, and guide risk management, audits, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in OHS, Engineering, or Environmental Management.
• Experience in energy, utilities, construction, engineering, or manufacturing.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English; willing to travel within Norway and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop HSE strategy, programs, and initiatives across the Operating Unit.
• Drive a strong safety culture across daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with Norwegian legislation and Hitachi Energy policies.
• Lead incident investigations, audits, risk management, and continuous improvement.
• Coach managers and employees on HSE guidance and best practices.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, contractors, and authorities to improve HSE outcomes.

In this key role, you will work closely with business leaders, project teams, and employees to drive a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance, and support operational excellence. Through visible leadership, coaching, and continuous improvement, you will help create a safe and sustainable workplace while contributing to business success.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Development of HSE strategy, programs, and initiatives across the Operating Unit.
• Drive a strong safety culture where health, safety, and environmental responsibility are embedded in daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with Norwegian legislation, Hitachi Energy policies, and customer requirements.
• Support managers, project teams, and employees with expert HSE guidance and coaching.
• Lead incident investigations, audits, risk management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, contractors, and authorities to enhance HSE performance and sustainability outcomes.

Your background

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field is an advantage.
• HSE experience from industries such as energy, utilities, construction, engineering, or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of Norwegian HSE legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Leadership skills with the ability to engage, influence, and drive change across an organization.
• Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and continuous improvement processes.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken, and willing to travel within Norway and occasionally internationally.
