Job summary

Welltec Technology Center Stavanger – Wellgrab is seeking a Design & Application Engineer – Electrical systems to join the D&E department in Stavanger. In this role you will translate ideas into offshore-ready tools, work daily with calculations and 3D modeling, and support firmware and software development.

The ideal candidate holds a MSc or BSc in electrical engineering or mechatronics, 6–7+ years of experience, and fluency in Norwegian and English.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar required.
• 6–7+ years of relevant experience in the field.
• Proficiency with CAD tools for product development (Inventor/SolidWorks/CATIA).
• Multidisciplinary understanding across mechanical, hydraulic and electronics.
• Experience developing downhole tools for oil and gas preferred.
• Offshore/onshore field operations experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Structured, target-driven, and team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and build technology from idea to commercial product ready for offshore service.
• Perform calculations and 3D modeling daily.
• Support firmware, software development and updates.
• Create manufacturing drawings and supervise production.

Wellgrab fishing solutions is a Stavanger-based department at Welltec Technology Center Stavanger, specializing within the oil and gas industry with innovative wireline fishing tools for well intervention.

We have offered experience in developing downhole tools for the oil and gas industry since 2017. Wellgrab's technology pairs digital capabilities with a versatile, multi-functional fishing tool to execute safer and more cost-effective fishing operations.

The global energy technology company Welltec fully aquired Autentik (Wellgrab) in February 2023, further expanding the reach of Wellgrab’s solutions in the international intervention market.

Wellgrab is supporting a large fleet of fishing tools and are supporting operations in all regions globally.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build technology from idea to commercial product ready for offshore service
• Work with calculations and 3D modeling on a daily basis
• Support firmware, software development and updates
• Manufacturing drawings and production follow up
• Support operations with engineering requirements
• Testing
• Work out tool related documents

The candidate

Qualification Requirements

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. within electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar
• 6-7+ years relevant experience
• Proficient with Autodesk Inventor / Solid Works and / or Catia
• Multidiscipline understanding: mechanical, hydraulic and electro
• Experience in product development for Oil and Gas industry with expertise in downhole tools
• Field operations experience both offshore and onshore is an advantage
• Advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
• Structured, systematic and target driven with well-defined goals

Language

• Proficient in verbal and written Norwegian and English
