Job summary

NSC Global in Trondheim is seeking a Data Centre Field Engineer to join our growing team. You will work on network and server hardware, cabling, equipment racking, and field replaceable units while delivering hands-on support in demanding environments.

The role requires proven field experience, strong troubleshooting, and good business communication. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, adhere to schedules, and help implement connectivity and high-end systems products.

Qualifications

• Must have a driving licence.
• Local language at least B2 level.
• Familiar with Windows Server and Unix operating systems.
• Knowledge of CLI commands.
• Experience with storage and backup procedures.
• HVAC and UPS systems knowledge.
• Active Directory and Exchange basics.
• Experience with common software applications.
• IT qualifications may include Microsoft server certifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support network hardware and components.
• Maintain and monitor server, storage, and related systems.
• Troubleshoot and test network connectivity and systems.
• Assist in deployment and field support of connectivity and high-end systems products.
• Adhere to assigned schedules and documented policies.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous service improvements.

Responsibilities

Work Experience: More than 24 months

Sound knowledge of:

• Network and server hardware and components
• Copper and fibre cabling systems
• Equipment racking and stacking (installation)
• Installation and removal of field replaceable units (e.g. hard drive, memory, line cards, transceivers)
• Network monitoring systems and usage
• Device and database backup & restore processes
• Troubleshooting and testing
• Network connectivity
• Out of band management tools such as iLO and Drac systems
