Job summary

NSC Global is seeking a Data Centre Field Engineer to join our team in Norway. The role requires hands-on work with network and server hardware, cabling, and high-end systems.

You will install, configure and test equipment, manage backups, and support connectivity across data centers. The ideal candidate has a valid driving licence, local-language proficiency at B2 level, and experience with Windows Server, Unix, AD and Exchange.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driving licence and local language at least B2.
  • Familiar with Windows Server, Unix operating systems and CLI commands.
  • Knowledge of storage/backup procedures, HVAC and UPS.
  • Aware of Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Comfortable with common software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work with network and server hardware and components.
  • Install and manage copper and fibre cabling systems.
  • Rack and stack equipment; install/remove field replaceable units.
  • Monitor networks; manage backups and restores.
  • Troubleshoot networks; perform testing and validation.
  • Ensure connectivity and use of out-of-band tools (iLO/DRAC).
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis and service delivery improvements.
  • Maintain schedule adherence and strong teamwork.

Responsibilities

Work Experience: More than 24 months

  • Network and server hardware and components
  • Copper and fibre cabling systems
  • Equipment racking and stacking (installation)
  • Installation and removal of field replaceable units (e.g. hard drive, memory, line cards, transceivers)
  • Network monitoring systems and usage
  • Device and database backup & restore processes
  • Troubleshooting and testing
  • Network connectivity
  • Out of band management tools such as iLO and Drac systems
  • Root cause analysis assistance
  • Professional business communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Leadership and/or team experience
  • Participate in the configuration and support of systems.
  • Adherence to assigned schedule
  • Adhering to documented policies, procedures, processes
  • Able to function in a team environment
  • Maintain knowledge levels as industry enhancements occur
  • Support installation and implementation of connectivity and high‑end systems products
  • Continuous improvement of service delivery.
  • Ability to juggle time and resources to meet or exceed expectations
Qualifications

MUST HAVE:

  • driving licence

    • Physical Storage and backup procedures (e.g. tape library systems)
    • HVAC and UPS systems
    • Active Directory
