Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a patient care support role to assist with direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The position involves direct patient contact and support within a 24/7 health system.

Role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends. CNA certification or RN-in-training status is considered based on department needs and licensing timelines.

Qualifications

• RN license must be obtained within three months of hire; otherwise CNA certification is required.
• Current CNA certification is required if remaining in role beyond three months.
• RQI eCredential must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with feeding, drinking, ambulating, grooming, toileting, and dressing.
• Educate patients and families as directed by care team.
• Collect, report, and document data related to direct patient care.
• Support a clean, safe patient care environment and transport patients as needed.
• Assist with clerical duties, stock supplies, and maintain patient records.
• Communicate with hospital staff, physicians, patients, families, and visitors.
• Observe cardiac monitor and notify staff of abnormal rhythms.
• Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
