Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a patient-focused trainee for a Medical Assistant role. The incumbent provides assistive care to patients while completing clinical training hours under supervision of licensed staff, and also supports clerical functions as a multi-skilled auxiliary worker.

Qualifications

• Concurrent enrollment in a Medical Assisting program within USHE.
• Completion of a signed MA Apprenticeship Repayment Agreement.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire.
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
• Reports patient concerns to licensed staff.
• Performs CLIA Waved Lab tests and reports results.
• Assist with injections and suture removal.
• Acts as a chaperone during examinations and assists with procedures.
• Maintain and restock exam rooms and assist with clerical tasks.
• Attend mandatory training including infection prevention, CPR, and safety.
• Assist with phlebotomy and auscultation under supervision.
• Coordinate patient transport and appointments as directed.
