Job summary

EGON Brygga in Tromsø is opening a brand-new restaurant and seeks an Assistant Kitchen Manager to join the leadership team. You will support the Kitchen Manager, drive daily kitchen operations, and help establish standards, routines and a professional work culture from day one.

This role blends hands-on cooking with leadership, planning and follow-up, with opportunities to advance toward Kitchen Manager as EGON grows. English proficiency is required; Norwegian a plus.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience from a professional kitchen.
• Experience from high-volume restaurants or similar operations.
• Previous leadership experience, or a strong motivation to develop into a leadership role.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example.
• Ability to stay structured and focused during busy services.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Genuine interest in food, people and restaurant operations.
• Good communication skills in English; Norwegian is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Kitchen Manager in the daily operation of the kitchen.
• Take responsibility for kitchen operations when the Kitchen Manager is absent.
• Ensure consistently high food quality and presentation.
• Participate in food preparation and à la carte service.
• Follow routines related to HACCP/food safety and hygiene.
• Help train, motivate and develop kitchen employees.
• Contribute to efficient staffing, planning and organization.
• Follow EGON’s routines, systems and operational standards.
• Help create a positive, structured and professional working environment.
• Contribute to building a strong kitchen team at the new restaurant.
