Job summary

Lace Lithography AS in Bergen, Norway, is seeking a highly experienced AMO Experimental Physicist / Engineer (Junior to Senior) to join our team and help bring ultra-precise beam conditioning systems from concept to robust products.

You will work alongside physicists, chemists and developers on laser cooling, atomic beams and diagnostics, with opportunities to lead experimental setups, optimize performance and contribute to design reviews.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics or Applied Physics with AMO focus; Master with 5+ years AMO experience ok.
• Proven laser cooling and atom optics experience.
• Hands-on skills: align complex optical systems, work with vacuum apparatus.
• Strong analytical skills: modeling, feasibility studies, quick calculations.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for data acquisition/analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize beam conditioning and laser cooling setups.
• Improve beam flux, control, and long-term stability of AMO modules.
• Develop diagnostics: spectroscopy, beam profilers, etc.
• Collaborate with optomechanical and CAD engineers for system integration.
• Assist with deployment, training, and documentation.
• Contribute to design reviews with calculations and references.
