Job summary

Q-Free, a global ITS technology leader, is seeking an AI Enablement Engineer to shape how AI is used across our engineering teams. You will blend hands-on AI with software development to identify use cases, prototype AI-enabled workflows, and help turn experiments into scalable, production-ready solutions.

Location: Trondheim region. You will collaborate with engineers and AI champions worldwide to establish patterns, governance and secure practices for AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in software engineering.
• Experience with generative AI, LLMs, AI-assisted development, agents or AI-augmented workflows.
• Strong programming skills.
• Good understanding of modern software development practices.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Explore, evaluate and apply new AI technologies, models and tools relevant to Q-Free
• Work hands-on with engineering teams to prototype, develop and integrate practical AI-based solutions
• Help teams move AI initiatives from idea and experimentation into stable, secure and production-near workflows
• Support the development of shared patterns, best practices and reusable AI-supported workflows
• Contribute to responsible and secure use of AI, including quality, governance, traceability, privacy and security considerations
• Collaborate with engineers, AI champions and stakeholders across teams and locations

Q-Free is a global leader in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), developing technology that improves traffic flow, enhances road safety and enables smarter mobility worldwide.

To strengthen our AI Center of Excellence, we are now looking for an AI Enablement Engineer to help shape how AI is used across Q-Free.

In this role, you will combine hands-on AI and software engineering with enablement, competence building and practical implementation. You will work closely with engineering teams and other colleagues across the organisation to identify relevant use cases, prototype AI-enabled workflows, and help turn experimentation into secure, structured and scalable ways of working.

Key responsibilities include:
