Job summary

TNO's Brightlands Materials Center in the Netherlands is seeking a Scientist Thermoplastic Composite Additive Manufacturing. You will lead applied R&D on continuous fiber deposition to create lightweight, multi-material components with integrated functionalities, collaborating with colleagues across disciplines.

You will develop workflows, run trials under varying processing conditions, and prepare demonstrators and material characterisation data to support industrial scaling and customer needs.

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanics/mechatronics or related fields.
  • Experience with composite materials and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with CAD software and multiphysics modeling.
  • Ability to validate design with experimental data.

Responsibilities

  • Execute applied R&D on additive manufacturing of fiber reinforced polymers.
  • Develop processing workflows and test setups for continuous fiber deposition.
  • Interpret experimental results and communicate findings.
  • Maintain 3D printing facilities and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Guide students in the lab within a multidisciplinary team.
