Job description

What You Will Do

Are you ready to shape the future of electrification through advanced simulation and digital twin technology in a cutting-edge, international environment? Then this might be your next big move!

We are currently looking for a skilled and forward-thinking System Simulation Engineer (MBSE) to join our R&D department. As a System Simulation Engineer (MBSE) for Battery and ePowertrain Systems at ELU (Electrification Unit of Yanmar), you will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing simulation models to enhance the performance and efficiency of our off‑highway applications. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing 1D simulations that inform the development and integration of battery and ePowertrain components. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will use your expertise to identify performance bottlenecks, propose solutions, and drive innovations that ensure Yanmar's leadership in electrification technology for off‑highway applications.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Simulation Model Development: Create and refine 1D simulation models for battery and ePowertrain systems to predict performance and optimize designs.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analyses of simulation results to identify areas for improvement and provide actionable insights for design enhancements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with design, engineering, and R&D teams to integrate simulation results into the development process, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Innovation & Optimization: Use simulations to explore new concepts and technologies, driving innovations that improve system efficiency and performance.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of simulation models, results, and methodologies, and prepare reports that communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest simulation tools and techniques, implementing best practices to advance Yanmar’s simulation capabilities.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in 1D simulation engineering, with a focus on battery and ePowertrain systems.
  • Proficiency in simulation software such as GT-SUITE, AMESim, Matlab or similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in the off‑highway or automotive sectors.
  • Experience with thermal and multi‑physics simulations.
  • Knowledge of electrification trends and technologies.
  • A proactive approach to innovation and continuous learning.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, such as German or Japanese.
  • To ensure a smooth onboarding process, we are currently considering applications from candidates who already live in the Netherlands or Germany and are authorized to work in one of these countries. Unfortunately, relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available for this position.
