Job summary

Flexport in Amsterdam is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Platform, Security & Infrastructure team. You’ll own and evolve the infrastructure powering our engineering, ensuring reliability, scalability and security across cloud platforms.

You’ll design, deploy and operate container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC foundations, while collaborating with product teams to ship secure, observable services at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering with production systems
• Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure with hands-on AWS experience
• Strong Infrastructure-as-Code skills, preferably with Terraform
• Solid software engineering skills and ability to build automation
• Experience leading incident response and post-mortems
• Independent mindset thriving in ambiguity
• Sound judgment around infrastructure, security, IAM and change management
• Excellent communication and ability to align stakeholders across teams
• A drive for impact and reliable, scalable systems

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the infrastructure powering Flexport engineering.
• Design, build and operate reliable, scalable infrastructure in AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Evolve container orchestration (Kubernetes), Helm charts, deployment systems (Argo) and guardrails for safe deployments.
• Evolve observability stack (Openmetrics, Datadog) for clear, actionable insights.
• Set standards for Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Create and support CI/CD pipelines (Buildkit, Github Actions) and build tooling (Gradle, Bazel, npm/pnpm/bun, Go, Cargo) and artifact repositories.
• Improve incident response tooling and cross-functional collaboration across teams.
