Job summary

Checkout.com is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical direction in the Payments Performance pillar. You will shape architecture across multiple teams, drive robust, low-latency distributed systems in Go on AWS, and mentor engineers to raise the bar on quality and performance.

Qualifications

Proficient in Go (Golang) with strong concurrency and low-latency backend design.
Extensive hands-on experience building and operating cloud-based distributed systems on AWS.
Proven ability to coach and mentor engineering teams to improve platforms and practices.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Define and drive long-term technical direction for the Experimentation and Optimisation platform.
Collaborate with Data Science, Platform and ML Engineering teams to shape what is built.
Act as a coach and mentor to engineering teams on distributed systems and Go-based architecture.
Elevate engineering standards through proactive coaching and best-practice adoption.
Translate requirements into clear engineering roadmaps and execution plans.
Model engineering excellence across code, architecture and operations.
