Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer – Pricing based in the Netherlands. You will own the pricing infrastructure behind a modern energy platform, building a pricing API from initial architecture to production, with external third-party access.

This remote-first role emphasizes AI-assisted workflows and cross-team collaboration. You will lead architectural migrations, ensure pricing accuracy, and drive performance improvements while balancing cost and explainability in critical financial

Qualifications

• Deep production experience with Python backend engineering.
• Proven experience owning APIs at scale.
• Led decoupling or architectural transformation of a live system.
• Strong proficiency with FastAPI and SQL.
• Experience designing data-heavy systems with numerical correctness.

Responsibilities

• Build, evolve, and operate the Pricing API, fast, reliable, accurate, explainable.
• Lead extraction of pricing logic into a dedicated service with clear boundaries.
• Manage architectural migrations and decoupling while protecting functionality.
• Own pricing reliability with monitoring and alerting systems.
• Explain pricing failures and diagnose quotes.
• Improve pricing performance and reduce quote latency.
• Serve as senior technical authority in pricing architecture decisions.
• Promote AI-assisted and multi-agent development workflows.
• Escalation point for live pricing incidents and post-mortem improvements.
• Balance speed, accuracy, reliability, cost, and explainability in engineering decisions.
• Influence technical direction across teams without direct management authority.
