Job summary

Protolabs in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is seeking an Engineering Manager - Pricing to lead a distributed pricing engine and related ML capabilities. You will guide senior engineers, ML experts, and product managers to evolve pricing rules and enterprise services across factory and network fulfillment, balancing speed with governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading and managing software engineering teams.
• Experience building and scaling complex, rules-based or model-driven decisioning systems like pricing engines.
• Direct experience building and managing LLM-based or applied ML capabilities in production.
• Experience with pricing strategy, revenue management, or similar quantitative business systems is a strong plus.
• Proven ability to build and operate a capability as an enterprise service across multiple business lines or customer segments.
• Prior people-management experience at senior or staff level with capability-and-roadmap ownership.

Responsibilities

• Set priorities for pricing engine and pricing services development with leadership.
• Own the capability and roadmap for the pricing engine and its evolution.
• Guide analysis, design, development, and testing of pricing capabilities for factory, network, and service lines.
• Lead the creation and ongoing management of LLM-based capabilities to support pricing strategy.
• Ensure the pricing engine is an enterprise capability with shared services and governance.
• Recommend process improvements to improve pricing accuracy, margin, and competitiveness.
• Hire, manage, and develop software engineers, ML engineers, and product managers.
• Mentor team members on pricing methodology, ML/LLM techniques, and software engineering practices.
• Monitor pricing engine quality and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with pricing analysts and service line leaders to maintain enterprise-wide consistency.
