Stoneridge is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to design and integrate automotive camera systems, monitors and display modules. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, manufacturable solutions, applying DFMEA and thermal management expertise.
The role requires 7+ years in automotive mechanical design, proficiency in multiple CAD tools, and experience with mechatronic product development and mass production processes.
Since 1965, Stoneridge has designed and manufactured advanced, award-winning technologies including driveline and transmission actuation systems, vision systems, emissions control systems, safety systems, and security and monitoring systems for vehicle OEMs in the commercial vehicle, automotive, off-highway and agricultural vehicle markets. We’re focused on the areas of greatest market need – both today and tomorrow. Our core products and technologies are aligned with industry megatrends including safety and security, vehicle intelligence, fuel efficiency and emissions. Join the Stoneridge Team as we continue to build upon our strong history and reputation for quality products to deliver innovative products and systems that address a need, exceed our customers’ expectations, and motivate our team.
As Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and integrate camera systems, monitors, and display modules for automotive environments. You will bring deep knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and expertise in hardware development, mass production, and thermal/mechanical performance.
Contribute to the mechanical design and industrialization of automotive camera and display systems (e.g., rear-view, side-view, surround view, instrument cluster displays) using your expertise. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, optical) to ensure seamless integration of imaging hardware. Develop and validate detailed CAD models and drawings, and perform tolerance analyses, DFMEA, and design reviews to ensure reliability and manufacturability. Apply advanced problem-solving skills to address mechanical challenges related to thermal dissipation, vibration, sealing (IP rating), and alignment precision. Engage with suppliers and customers on component development, tooling, validation, and ensure compliance with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 26262). Support technical reviews and share expertise, including environmental and durability testing, while mentoring junior engineers when needed.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent proven expertise). 7+ years of experience in automotive mechanical design, including hands-on development and integration. Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX, Creo, CATIA, or Inventor) and strong knowledge of materials, thermal management, sealing, and mounting systems. Familiarity with automotive standards and validation procedures for electronic modules and environmental testing. Experience with mechatronic product development, preferably in ADAS systems, camera/monitor hardware, and mass production processes. Understanding of advanced analysis and integration requirements, such as thermal simulation (CFD), mechanical FEA, optical alignment, and automotive communication protocols (LVDS, Ethernet, CAN).
Salary based on knowledge and experience.
