Job summary

Stoneridge is seeking a Systems Engineer to translate stakeholders' needs into detailed camera system specifications and architecture. You will define subsystem behavior and interfaces and ensure seamless integration with software, hardware, and the operating environment.

You will work with cross‑functional teams to evaluate concepts, perform feasibility studies, and drive robust technical solutions that meet performance, quality, safety, and project objectives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience in automotive/heavy equipment sectors.
  • Knowledge of requirements engineering processes and tools.
  • Experience in system architecture development and translating requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools (DOORS NG, Polarion, Capella).
  • Nice to have knowledge of ASPICE, UNECE R46, MBSE.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer and business needs into clear, prioritized system requirements.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture, elements, and interfaces.
  • Perform modeling, simulations and trade‑off analyses for decisions.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical and mechanical teams for integration.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and internal processes including camera FMEA.
  • Support system verification and validation activities to ensure reliability.

Objective of the position

In this role, you will translate stakeholders, customers, and system requirements into detailed camera system specifications and architecture, ensuring clear traceability from concept through development and validation. You will define subsystem behavior and interfaces, and ensure seamless integration with software, hardware, and the operating environment. Working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams and the Team Lead Camera Systems, you will evaluate technical concepts, perform feasibility studies and risk assessments, and drive robust technical solutions that meet performance, quality, safety, and project objectives. You will also support system integration, verification, and activities to ensure reliable camera subsystem performance within the overall system.

Characterization of activities

Translate customer and business needs into clear, prioritized functional and non‑functional system requirements. Develop and maintain system architecture, system elements, and interface definitions while conducting design reviews. Perform system modeling, simulations, and trade‑off analyses to support technical decision‑making. Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, including software, functional safety, cybersecurity, electrical and mechanical engineering, verification, and project management. Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and internal processes, including maintaining camera FMEA.

Education, Experience and Knowledge

5+ years of Systems Engineering experience, preferably within automotive, agricultural, or heavy equipment industries. Knowledge of requirements engineering, gained through formal training or hands‑on industry experience. Experience in system architecture development and translating requirements into technical solutions, with expertise in camera systems, image processing, image recognition, and image stitching technologies. Proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools such as DOORS NG, Polarion, Capella, or similar platforms. Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex system interactions and interfaces.

Nice to have: Knowledge of ASPICE, UNECE R46, MBSE.

  • Salary based on knowledge and experience.
  • Full‑time employment of 40 hours per week.
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • Travel allowance home‑work: 23ct per kilometer one way up to a maximum of 50 km CAO: Metalektro HP Retirement: PME (Pensioenfonds Metalektro).
  • WIA: WIA floor, WGA gap and WGA gap additional insurances in accordance with the stipulated provisions.
  • PAWW: Compulsory supplementary insurance when the statutory unemployment WW or WGA benefit expires.
  • Holiday days: 27 days on an annual basis (full‑time).
  • ATV: 13 days on an annual basis (full‑time)
