McKinsey & Company seeks an experienced energy consultant to contribute to hydrogen, carbon capture, and energy transition initiatives. You will work with asset teams, applying analytics and AI to optimize operations and unlock value across upstream, midstream, and new business builds.
You will be based in Amsterdam or London and collaborate with diverse teams to drive performance and transformational change for energy clients globally.
Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place.
You will support our client teams by providing them with energy-specific expertise, directly contributing to increasing the value of energy assets and turning around operational performance. You will be a part of McKinsey's renowned advisory, which comprises specialized expertise in reservoir/well management, drilling, production optimization, onshore/offshore operations, and energy transition/decarbonization. You will be part of a passionate team that enables the Petroleum Asset eXcellence (PAX) unit to integrate with the existing asset team. You will leverage cutting-edge digital solutions, including agentic AI systems, to autonomously model and optimize asset performance. Your work will address current business challenges, maximize the intrinsic value of the asset, and build advanced capabilities to sustain change. In addition to working as an advisor, you will participate in, or at times lead, key internal knowledge-building initiatives as well as conferences and client workshops. You will be based out of our Amsterdam or London office and will be part of the Petroleum Asset eXcellence unit within McKinsey's Oil & Gas practice. You will work as a team member for specific client energy operations, and transformation and improvement programs with direct contact to key members of client organizations. You will develop and provide recommendations based on the findings and support and coach clients in driving implementation and change. You will work with energy companies on their full spectrum of activities. This includes deploying agentic AI to capture the full potential of their upstream reserves and assets, as well as architecting intelligent systems for their new business builds (e.g., Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage/CCUS, hydrogen) in the energy transition.
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward. In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues - at all levels - will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients.
