You will manage up to 300 employees, drive service performance, cost control, and continuous improvement, and oversee ERP integration and workforce automation initiatives.

Job description

As Site Manager | GXO Logistics, you will lead a complex 3PL operation in the Netherlands for a major customer within the FMCG sector. You will be responsible for a 50,000 m² warehouse operation with up to 300 employees, with a strong focus on service performance, productivity, cost control and continuous improvement. You will further develop workforce automation, using technology, data and smarter planning to optimise labour deployment, while building a strong management team and strengthening the long-term partnership with the customer.

The opportunity

The Site Manager will take responsibility for a substantial logistics operation in Oss, supporting a demanding customer within the FMCG sector.

The organisation is looking for a leader who can:
  • Develop the existing management team through coaching and mentoring;
  • Further improve leadership quality and operational ownership;
  • Strengthen the financial performance and commercial maturity of the contract;
  • Lead the organisation through an ERP integration process
  • Build a strong, credible and long-term relationship with the customer;
  • Support the upcoming contract extension;
  • Identify opportunities to broaden the scope of services, for example through transport, security or other value-added activities;
  • Further develop workforce automation and improve the way labour is planned, deployed and managed;
  • Create a high-performing leadership culture while making difficult people decisions where necessary.
Your role

You will be accountable for the overall direction, performance and continued development of the site. A major part of the role is stakeholder management. You will work closely with the customer, the local leadership team (HR, Business Support, Operations, Facility, Cash Controll) and regional and commercial colleagues. You will need to understand both the operational detail of a sizeable FMCG logistics operation and the broader commercial context of the partnership.

You will lead, coach and develop the site management team, creating clear accountability and strong collaboration across the operation. You provide direction and create space for others to lead, while remaining decisive when performance, customer confidence or business continuity require intervention.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the site strategy and long-term development agenda;
  • Holding overall responsibility for the P&L and contract performance;
  • Strengthening operational performance, quality, productivity and cost control;
  • Preparing and supporting the contract renewal process;
  • Developing new commercial opportunities within the customer partnership;
  • Leading the transition towards a more mature contract and governance model;
  • Building a united, accountable and high-performing management team;
  • Working closely with regional Sales and business leadership;
  • Driving further workforce automation and ensuring that workforce planning, warehouse systems and operational processes support sustainable performance;
  • Ensuring the site can effectively manage a workforce of up to 300 employees while maintaining service levels, productivity and flexibility;
  • Representing the organisation credibly with senior customer stakeholders.
What we are looking for

This position requires a senior and credible leader with extensive experience in third-party logistics and contract logistics.

You bring:
  • Significant leadership experience within a complex 3PL or contract logistics operation;
  • Proven P&L responsibility for a substantial site or business unit;
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience with customer negotiations, contract renewals and scope expansion;
  • A track record in building and developing management teams;
  • The ability to coach and develop leaders while maintaining clear accountability;
  • Experience in operational transformation, continuous improvement and preferably workforce automation;
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, labour planning, systems and performance management;
  • Experience within FMCG/Food/Retail or another high-volume and service-critical logistics environment would be an advantage;
  • The confidence to address underperformance and make difficult organisational decisions;
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills;
  • Fluency in English.
