Job summary

Via Logistics in Heerlen, NL, seeks a Site Engineer to improve warehouse operations through practical improvements on the shop floor. You will analyse processes, identify issues, and develop implementable solutions from proposal through testing and embedding changes into daily operation.

The role requires a minimum of three years of logistics experience (preferably 3PL), strong on-site leadership, and collaboration with IT, operations and customers.

Qualifications

• HBO degree or equivalent in logistics/engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, preferably 3PL.
• Experience leading improvement projects and implementing changes.
• Strong on shop-floor analysis and practical solutions.
• English communication; Dutch is a plus.

Our client is an international logistics service provider operating in a high-volume 3PL environment. The operation is partly automated and continuously evolving. Continuous improvement, implementation, and sustainable embedding on the shop floor are key, with direct impact on performance, quality, and customer agreements
Site Engineer

• Hbo

As a Site Engineer, you improve the operation by turning observations on the shop floor into practical changes. You analyse processes, spot issues early, and develop solutions that are realistic in daily practice. From proposal to implementation and testing, you guide the full process and make sure improvements land in the operation.

You work closely with operations, support teams, IT, and customers. In a setting with high dynamics and tight timelines, you bring structure and clarity. You understand how systems and processes influence each other and ensure changes fit both the operation and the people who work with them.

Safety, quality, and process discipline are part of your daily routine. You monitor progress, measure the effect of your work, and make sure improvements remain sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Investigating processes on the shop floor, identifying issues, and developing concrete improvement proposals
• Taking ownership from alignment and planning to implementation, testing and embedding changes in the operation
• Working together with operations, IT and customer stakeholders on changes, releases, and their operational impact
• Monitoring and optimising partly automated warehouse processes and adjusting where needed
• Training and guiding teams in new ways of working so improvements are adopted consistently
• Measuring and reporting results, productivity, and quality within your scope
• Guarding safety, compliance, and process discipline in daily operations
• You have at least three years of experience in a similar role within logistics, preferably 3PL
• You have experience with process improvement and you can independently lead improvement projects
• You are strong in both analysis and implementation, and you make sure improvements are actually delivered
• You enjoy being on the shop floor, see what is happening, and easily engage with different stakeholders
• You communicate professionally in English; Dutch is a plus
• You have affinity with WMS/WCS, changes, and testing
• You work in a structured way, are proactive, and naturally take ownership
• Salary up to € 5,000 gross per month, depending on experience
• Informal working atmosphere with short lines and a team with multiple engineers within CI/engineering
• Plenty of room to implement improvements and make a real impact on performance
• Full-time, fully on-site; start time between 07:30 and 08:30 and flexibility during implementations
