Job summary

Star in Rotterdam is seeking an experienced Lead Designer for oil and gas projects. You will coordinate designers, ensure design intent, and manage interfaces across disciplines to meet project objectives.

The role demands strong analytical and planning skills, knowledge of safety and environmental engineering, and the ability to lead within an assigned scope. Collaboration with package engineers and cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions that meet high standards of safety, reliability and sustainability, contributing to project objectives and the organization's strategic goals and long-term success.
• Select appropriate methods and procedures, perform design activities and execute the design within the agreed scope and specifications, ensuring compliance with international codes, company standards and applicable regulations.
• Apply technical knowledge and software tools to produce clear and accurate design documentation that can be easily interpreted by others.
• Collaborate with Engineers, other Designers and Lead Designers to share information, maintain design intent and resolve design conflicts.
• Proactively plan and complete activities and deliverables within agreed timelines, ensuring proper coordination of system interfaces.
• Escalate unresolved issues to the Lead Designer/Engineer to minimize delays and understand the impact of assigned tasks on the overall project schedule and other stakeholders.
• Apply relevant lessons learned and understand the impact of changes within and across project system boundaries.
• Collaborate with Package Engineers to ensure timely review of vendor documentation and provide high-quality technical comments.
• Take the lead in coordinating Designers within an assigned scope of work.
• Act as Lead Designer for an assigned scope of work, where required.

• 5 to 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

• Experience with engineering design and calculation tools.

• Knowledge of Plant Layout and FPSO Layout.

• Knowledge of Structural Topsides.

• Experience with detailed engineering design.

• Experience in package engineering and manufacturing.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Strong planning and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of Safety and Environmental Engineering, including Human Factors Engineering.
