Job summary

Vesper in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Software Developer to drive our technological evolution and help scale our core products. You will architect robust solutions, tackle complex challenges, and act as a strategic partner to the product team, with autonomy and responsibility to shape our engineering path.

You will mentor junior developers, improve agile processes, and collaborate across functions to deliver high-quality software using Vue.js, Tailwind, Laravel, MySQL, and Git.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Software Developer to drive Vesper's technological evolution and help us scale to new heights.

As a Senior Software Developer at Vesper, you will be a cornerstone of our engineering team. You will go beyond participating in the development process to actively shaping it. You will architect robust solutions for our core products, tackle our most complex technical challenges, and act as a strategic partner to the product team. Whether you are deep-diving into system architecture, bridging the gap between customer needs and technical execution, or mentoring junior developers, you will be given the autonomy and responsibility to help Vesper’s product grow into its next stage.

What you will do

• Architect: Design and build the development of complex, highly scalable features for our core products.

• Drive Technical Excellence: Identify systemic technical challenges, take ownership of reducing technical debt, and establish best practices for coding, testing, and deployment. Take initiative for change through RFC ownership.

• Optimize and Scale: Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability based on both evolving customer needs and long-term technical strategy.

• Drive Technical Execution: Collaborate with the product team to translate feature requests into robust technical architectures. Participate in backlog reviews to assess the technical feasibility of new ideas, break down complex requirements, and ensure a healthy balance between product delivery and technical health.

• Mentorship and Leadership: Elevate the entire development team by mentoring junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and proactively improving our agile way of working.

What you will bring

• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in full-stack or web development, with a track record of delivering scalable web applications.

• Technical Mastery: Deep, architectural understanding of the web development ecosystem. We don’t hire for specific tooling, but our stack is Vue.js, Tailwind, Laravel, Mysql, and version control through Git/GitHub.

• Language: Fluent in English.

• Coaching & Communication: Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and a passion for mentoring peers.

• Strategic Problem Solving: Highly analytical mindset capable of diagnosing root causes of complex systemic issues and designing elegant, long-term solutions.
