Job summary

SCIL Nanoimprint Solutions, based at Eindhoven's High Tech Campus, is seeking a Software Designer to shape the software of our nanoimprint machines. You’ll work at system level, defining architecture, interfaces, and how the software evolves through the lifecycle from design to commissioning.

You will lead software design decisions, write and review specifications and test plans, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a control software, electrical or industrial automation, mechatronics or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience working on complex machines in multidisciplinary projects.
• Proficiency in structured text programming (Beckhof/Twincat is a plus).
• Proficiency in Object Oriented programming and Python (C++ and Csharp is a plus)
• Able to define and specify SW designs;
• Experience in technical leadership, or guiding others;
• Hands‑on mindset with system‑level thinking;
• Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus);
• Team player with strong communication skills and customer‑focused attitude;
• Comfortable with uncertainty in a fast paced startup environment

Responsibilities

• Define, own and develop the software of our nanoimprint machines
• Hardware oriented programming (PLC / Structured Text, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Python)
• Act as technical lead and guide the team in software design decisions with documented specs and test plans
• Formulate the software project plan and report on performance with project manager
• Support testing and commissioning new machines and act as escalation point for complex issues
• Drive a First Time Right approach with clear action plans and diagnostics
• Handle complaints and escalations with timely analysis and action
• Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing and partners inside and outside SCIL
• Ensure software designs and decisions are clearly documented
