Job summary

Nearfield Instruments in Eindhoven seeks a Senior Software Architect to own the architecture, design, and lifecycle management of key software domains, while leading cross-cutting concerns. You will stay hands-on and translate customer needs into scalable production code, driving agile practices and delivering high-performance, reliable software for advanced metrology machines.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, or Electronics, 10+ years in software

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics or Electronics.
10+ years of software development experience.
7+ years of software architecture experience.
Experience with modern software development practices, languages and tools (git, CI/CD, automated testing, JIRA, C#, Python, PlantUML and use of LLMs)
Outstanding communication skills: you can describe a complex topic to non-software people
Experience with precision equipment or semiconductor industry is a plus
Coaching ability to mentor teams and keep knowledge up-to-date
Ability to influence lead engineers, managers and teams with your technical vision

Responsibilities

Lead architecture, design and lifecycle management of software domains within the SW Group.
Take the lead in cross-cutting concerns while staying hands-on in production code.
Translate requirements into high-level architecture and design.
Lead multiple features with other developers and drive release readiness.
Ensure software quality through structured testing and validation.
Identify system-level risks and resolve complex technical issues.
Mentor senior software engineers and act as escalation point.
