Job summary

Nearfield Instruments in Eindhoven seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own the architecture, design, and lifecycle management of Machine Control software across our high-throughput metrology systems. You will act as the technical go-to for Product Owners and software engineers, shaping solutions and ensuring robust, scalable software.

You will translate requirements into SW-level designs, lead feature development in a small team, and drive quality through testing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience in C#.
• 5+ years in software system design and architecture.
• Experience with modern software practices and tools (Git, CI/CD, automated testing, JIRA, PlantUML).
• Strong communication skills; coaching ability and mentorship prerequisites.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into SW-level requirements and architecture.
• Design high-level module/ component designs to meet requirements.
• Lead feature development within a small team of engineers.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across software and hardware integration.
• Drive software quality through structured testing and continuous improvement.
• Identify system risks and resolve technical challenges.
• Mentor engineers and support cross-team collaboration.
