Job summary

Jobgether (on behalf of our partner) seeks a Senior Back-end Product Engineer (PHP, Symfony) based in the Netherlands. You will own backend features end‑to‑end, from understanding customer problems to production release and continuous improvement.

You will design scalable services and data models, decompose work, and make architectural decisions in collaboration with multiple teams. AI will be integrated into daily development, with emphasis on reliability and security.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, owning complex features from design to production.
• Proficiency in PHP and Symfony, with strong API design, design patterns, clean code, and DDD.
• Hands‑on with AWS services (EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, IAM), Kubernetes, and serverless architectures.
• Strong debugging/profiling skills with Xdebug and Blackfire.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and observability of applications.
• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and frameworks like ExpressJS or NestJS.
• Demonstrated daily use of AI in software development; plus, experience building AI/LLM-powered features is a plus.
• Good understanding of application security; familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2 or similar standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own backend features end‑to‑end from understanding customer problems to production release and continuous improvement.
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend services, APIs, and data models.
• Decompose work, make architectural decisions, and present technical solutions to the team.
• Refactor existing systems, improve code quality, and expand test coverage.
• Use customer feedback, data, logs and production insights to guide product and technical decisions.
• Incorporate AI tools into daily development for coding, testing, and documentation; strengthen AI practices.
• Improve development workflows through automation, observability, alerting, and release processes.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement long‑term fixes.
