Telecommunications Engineer (Marine/Oil & Gas)

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Engineer to join our team in a key role focused on the design, implementation, and maintenance of communication systems for offshore facilities, including FPSOs, FLNGs, FSO, and semi-subs.

Responsibilities

1. Analyse and define telecommunications requirements for projects, including FEED-stage, layouts, specifications, block diagrams, and calculations.
2. Develop specifications for telecommunications equipment and act as the package engineer for telecom packages.
3. Perform power consumption calculations and define cable schedules and interconnection diagrams.
4. Prepare layouts, cable and junction box lists, termination and loop diagrams, and cable block diagrams.
5. Ensure compliance by reviewing vendor proposals against project specifications and monitoring internal drawings, specifications, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or Technical College degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in telecommunications systems design within the offshore Oil & Gas sector (FPSO, FLNG, FSO, or semi-submersible) – required.
• Experience working with package interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of telecom design for hazardous areas (IECEx001 certification preferred).
• Expertise in VSAT, Marine communications, PAGA, PABX & VoIP, 4G LTE, navigational equipment, radio systems, CCTV, GPS/DPS positioning systems.
• Willingness to travel and work in a collaborative team environment.
