Job summary

Multi NV in the Netherlands is seeking an experienced Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to own the naval architecture scope for one or more superyacht projects. You will review stability, hydrostatics, weight management and regulatory deliverables while coordinating with an international, English-speaking project team at two Dutch shipyards in Kaag and Amsterdam.

The role requires leading the technical review of external calculations, ensuring alignment with classification rules and flag

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or the superyacht industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of stability, weight estimation, weight monitoring and hydrostatics.
  • Practical experience with inclining tests and sea trials.
  • Good knowledge of international maritime regulations, classification rules and flag requirements.
  • Experience reviewing naval architecture calculations and challenging assumptions.
  • Understanding yacht construction processes and shipyard constraints.
  • Independent work with ownership of scope.
  • Excellent English communication.
  • Residence in the Netherlands or willingness to relocate.
  • REG Yacht Code experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Take technical ownership of the naval architecture scope within your assigned superyacht project or projects.
  • Review and challenge deliverables covering stability, weight management, hydrostatics, vessel performance and watertight integrity.
  • Verify technical documentation related to structural fire protection, load line, tonnage and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that naval architecture deliverables comply with project requirements, classification rules and flag regulations.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions that can be implemented during construction.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with classification societies, flag administrations, suppliers and engineering partners.
  • Resolve naval architecture issues during construction and provide technical support at the shipyard when required.
  • Support inclining tests, sea trials, docking, launching and transport operations.
  • Work closely with the Lead Engineer, Project Management, Production and other engineering disciplines to maintain technical alignment.
