Job summary

Multi NV in the Netherlands is seeking an experienced Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to own the naval architecture scope for one or more superyacht projects. You will review stability, hydrostatics, weight management and regulatory deliverables while coordinating with an international, English-speaking project team at two Dutch shipyards in Kaag and Amsterdam.

The role requires leading the technical review of external calculations, ensuring alignment with classification rules and flag

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
• At least seven years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or the superyacht industry.
• Extensive knowledge of stability, weight estimation, weight monitoring and hydrostatics.
• Practical experience with inclining tests and sea trials.
• Good knowledge of international maritime regulations, classification rules and flag requirements.
• Experience reviewing naval architecture calculations and challenging assumptions.
• Understanding yacht construction processes and shipyard constraints.
• Independent work with ownership of scope.
• Excellent English communication.
• Residence in the Netherlands or willingness to relocate.
• REG Yacht Code experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Verify technical documentation related to structural fire protection, load line, tonnage and other regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that naval architecture deliverables comply with project requirements, classification rules and flag regulations.
• Translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions that can be implemented during construction.
• Coordinate technical discussions with classification societies, flag administrations, suppliers and engineering partners.
• Resolve naval architecture issues during construction and provide technical support at the shipyard when required.
• Support inclining tests, sea trials, docking, launching and transport operations.
• Work closely with the Lead Engineer, Project Management, Production and other engineering disciplines to maintain technical alignment.

Job description

If your background is in naval architecture or marine engineering, this position gives you ownership of a broad technical scope within superyacht projects. You will review stability, weight, hydrostatics, performance and regulatory deliverables while working with an international, English-speaking project team. Relocation support is available in case you are moving to the Netherlands.

Where You’ll Work

You will work at a Dutch shipyard specialising in fully custom-built superyachts between approximately 70 and 160 metres. Depending on the project, your workplace will be the yacht construction facility in Kaag or the modern shipyard in Amsterdam, where both newbuild and refit projects are completed.

Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will manage the naval architecture scope for one or more projects. Detailed calculations and analyses are generally prepared by external specialists. Your responsibility is to review and challenge these deliverables, coordinate the relevant technical interfaces, and maintain consistency across the complete naval architecture scope.

Profile

What You Bring

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
• At least seven years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or the superyacht industry.
• Extensive knowledge of stability, weight estimation, weight monitoring and hydrostatics.
• Practical experience with inclining tests and sea trials.
• Good knowledge of international maritime regulations, classification rules and flag requirements.
• Experience reviewing and validating naval architecture calculations, including the confidence to question technical assumptions.
• An understanding of yacht construction processes and the practical constraints of a shipyard.
• The engineering judgement required to work independently and take clear ownership of your scope.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Residence in the Netherlands or willingness to relocate.
• Experience with the REG Yacht Code would be an advantage.
