Job summary

Van Storm Recruitment is seeking a Senior Naval Architect in the Rotterdam area to lead complex vessel design calculations and guide a small team. You will ensure safe, efficient, and cutting-edge solutions through close collaboration with systems, mechanical, and structural disciplines.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, coordinating designs, and interfacing with clients and classification societies to deliver clear specifications during construction.

Qualifications

• MSc in Naval Architecture.
• 5+ years of experience as a Naval Architect.
• Experience performing and validating stability, resistance, propulsion, weight, and motion calculations.
• Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Perform Naval Architecture calculations such as stability, weight, hydrostatics, manoeuvrability.
• Create and check structural and scantling calculations performed by other colleagues.
• Act as a mentor and coordinate junior naval architects within your team.
• Collaborate with other disciplines for integrated design.
• Communicate with clients and classification societies to ensure good deliverables.
• Write specifications for the yard and resolve questions in construction.
