Job summary

Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is seeking a Project Lead Naval Architecture to manage complex vessel designs from concept to engineering completion. You will lead a multidiscipline team of design, structural, marine systems and 3D/2D engineers, coordinating planning, budgets and client progress.

You will provide technical input during concept phases, ensure compliance with class authorities such as DNV, Bureau Veritas or Lloyd’s, and collaborate with the department manager and clients to deliver

Qualifications

• MSc in Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering or comparable.
• 10+ years’ experience in maritime engineering.
• Experience with concept- and basic design, FEA analyses and 3D/2D modelling.
• Familiar with class approval authorities and rules & regulations.
• Proactive with strong English and Dutch writing/communication.

Responsibilities

Job description

Do you want to be in charge for concept- and basic designs of some of the most complex vessels around? And are you experienced in managing a multidiscipline team, all stakeholders, planning and budget? We would like to get in touch.

Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is currently looking for a Project Lead Naval Architecture, who can manage complex designs from the first client meeting till the final stage of engineering. In the commercial phase, you’re already involved in providing technical input regarding concepts and estimations for the final proposal. Once the project is rewarded, you’ll select your team in consideration with the department manager(s) and determine detailed planning and budgets.

During the engineering, you’ll manage your team of design, structural, marine systems and 3D/2D engineers where the focus will be engineering work related to vessel lay-outs, stability, weight- and hydrodynamical calculations to optimize hull-and ship structures taking integration with offshore equipment, marine systems and workability into account. The types of new designs and conversions you’ll work on show a big variety, where you can think of custom-made designs for the offshore, renewable, dredging & mining and salvage and decommissioning markets.

All your design and engineering work will be under class approval of organizations like DNV, Bureau Veritas or Lloyds. You’ll be responsible for coordination and communication with these organizations and will discuss progress with the department manager and your clients.

What we ask:

• A Msc degree in Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering or comparable
• 10+ years’ of experience in engineering in the maritime industry
• Experience with different stages of engineering like concept- and basic design, FEA analyses and 3D/2D modelling
• Well known with class approval authorities and rules & regulations
• Proactive and good writing and communication skills in both English and Dutch
