Job summary

Science & Technology Corporation seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical development lifecycle of our first-generation onboard computing platform in Delft. You will own concepts, architecture, detailed design, integration and validation to meet space-grade mechanical and environmental requirements.

You will collaborate with Systems Architects, Embedded and Electronics teams to translate complex requirements into robust, high-performance hardware, with responsibility for FEA,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of dedicated Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Strong experience with mechanical design and FEA.
• Experience with thermal and structural analysis, including vibration and environmental loading.
• Experience working with external engineering, manufacturing, or production partners.
• Experience planning and executing mechanical and environmental test campaigns.
• Proficient in CAD and simulation/FEA tools.

Responsibilities

• Developing and owning the mechanical architecture and design of space-qualified computing platforms.
• Develop and manage production plans, coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards.
• Performing and/or coordinating Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including structural, vibration, and thermal analyses relevant to the space environment.
• Assessing mechanical requirements from satellite manufacturers and system integrators and translating these into product and interface requirements.
• Defining key mechanical design parameters, interfaces, and specifications for external design and manufacturing partners.
• Taking ownership of thermal-vacuum, vibration, thermal cycling, and other mechanical/environmental test campaigns.
• Contributing to design reviews, technical documentation, risk assessments, and qualification activities.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure mechanical solutions are fully integrated with electronics, thermal, structural, and system-level requirements.
