Science & Technology Corporation seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical development lifecycle of our first-generation onboard computing platform in Delft. You will own concepts, architecture, detailed design, integration and validation to meet space-grade mechanical and environmental requirements.
You will collaborate with Systems Architects, Embedded and Electronics teams to translate complex requirements into robust, high-performance hardware, with responsibility for FEA,
We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineerto join theteam in Delft.
As Earth observation missions continue to demand higher-resolution sensors and increasingly intelligent payloads, the need for a new generation of onboard processing capabilities is growing rapidly. Processing data directly in space enables faster decision-making, reduces bandwidth requirements, and unlocks entirely new mission concepts. At S&T, we are developing the next generation of onboard processing platforms that combine high-performance electronics, advanced software, and AI to bring these enhanced capabilities into orbit as quickly as possible.
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of the mechanical development lifecycle of our first-generation onboard computing platform. From early concepts and mechanical architecture through detailed design, implementation, integration, and validation, you will ensure that our products meet the demanding mechanical and environmental requirements of space applications.
You will work at the intersection of mechanical engineering, electronics, thermal management, vibrations/shock and space systems. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams—including Systems Architects, Embedded Systems Engineers, Electronics Design Engineers, Space Systems Engineers, and FPGA Engineers—you will help turn complex technical requirements into robust, high-performance products.
This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership and influence. You will have the opportunity to shape the mechanical architecture of a new product, work with specialist engineering partners, and contribute directly to the development of technologies designed for demanding, mission-critical environments.
Develop and manage production plans, coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards.
Performing and/or coordinating Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including structural, vibration, and thermal analyses relevant to the space environment.
Assessing mechanical requirements from satellite manufacturers and system integrators and translating these into product and interface requirements.
Defining key mechanical design parameters, interfaces, and specifications for external design and manufacturing partners.
Taking ownership of thermal-vacuum, vibration, thermal cycling, and other mechanical/environmental test campaigns.
Contributing to design reviews, technical documentation, risk assessments, and qualification activities.
Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure mechanical solutions are fully integrated with electronics, thermal, structural, and system-level requirements.
Education: A BSc or MSc degree in Aerospace engineering or Mechanical engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated Mechanical Engineering experience.
Strong experience with mechanical design and analysis, including FEA.
Experience with thermal and structural analysis, including vibration and environmental loading.
Experience working with external engineering, manufacturing, or production partners.
Experience planning, coordinating, and executing mechanical and environmental test campaigns, such as thermal-vacuum and vibration testing.
Experience with relevant CAD and simulation/FEA tools.
