Job summary

Science & Technology Delft seeks a Senior FPGA Engineer to lead FPGA firmware development for spaceborne onboard processing platforms. You will own the FPGA lifecycle from concept to validation and collaborate across Systems, Embedded, Electronics, and Space Systems teams to deliver high-performance, reliable hardware.

You will translate requirements into robust architectures, develop radiation-tolerant firmware, and integrate high-speed interfaces (Ethernet, SpaceFibre, PCIe) while mentoring

Qualifications

• Education: BSc or MSc in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years dedicated FPGA engineering experience.
• Strong VHDL and FPGA-based digital design expertise.
• SystemVerilog testbench design experience.
• Proficient with Siemens Questa for sim/verification.
• Experience with AMD and/or Microchip FPGA technologies.
• Knowledge of radiation effects and mitigation in space FPGAs.
• Experience implementing CAN, PCIe, Ethernet interfaces.
• Knowledge of SpaceWire and SpaceFibre.
• Experience with high-throughput data routers or switching architectures.
• Experience ML workloads/accelerators on FPGA platforms.
• FPGA-accelerated signal processing (FIR/IIR/FFT).
• Strong C/C++/Python programming skills; HDL development.
• CI/CD pipelines using Git, CMake, GCC.
• Ability to read PCB schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead FPGA engineering, establish efficient processes and review quality.
• Translate system requirements into robust FPGA architectures and firmware.
• Develop and qualify radiation-tolerant FPGA firmware for spacecraft.
• Design and integrate high-speed interfaces (Ethernet, SpaceFibre, PCIe).
• Create 100+ Gbps data-routing architectures with security and fault tolerance.
• Review PCB schematics and provide FPGA input to electronics team.
• Develop FPGA interfaces for ML workloads and accelerators.
