Job summary

Equilex B.V in Schiedam is seeking an experienced logistics operator in chemical distribution who aims for a management role. You own shipments end to end, worldwide, and you will work with the team on the total supply chain; this position is the stepping stone to becoming our Logistics Manager.

On-site with 1 day home office per week, you will lead coordination for three people as activity grows, meet logistics partners, and attend industry events; a clear path into management is offered.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in international chemicals logistics, bulk or packed.
• Hands-on experience with chartering bulk liquids, tank-containers and DV containers.
• Solid knowledge of Incoterms, ADR/IMDG, and customs and excise formalities.
• Fluent English and Dutch.
• Clear wish to move into people management and automation/digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and book shipments of all types worldwide (barge, parcel tanker, tank container, sea/road/rail).
• Charter vessel space and negotiate freight with vessel owners, forwarders and carriers.
• Issue transport instructions and check shipping documents (B/L, LC, Customs/ADR/IMDG).
• Maintain ERP data (orders, stock movements, invoicing, month-end close).
• Handle demurrage, claims and customer complaints; register KPIs.
• Lead automation of routine tasks to increase customer service focus.
• Gradually coordinate a three-person team (planning, coaching, back-up).
• Meet logistics partners and attend industry events.

We are looking for an experienced logistics operator in chemical distribution who wants to grow into a management role. You own shipments end to end, from supplier to customer, worldwide, and you work with the entire team on the total supply chain. This position is the stepping stone to becoming our Logistics Manager. • Reports to: Logistics Manager
• Contract: full-time, 40 hours per week
• Travel : occasional, a few times per year

What you'll do

• Plan and book shipments of all types: barge, parcel tanker, tank container(s) and packed shipments by sea, road and rail, worldwide
• Charter vessel space and negotiate freight with vessel owners, tank-operators, forwarders, carriers, terminals and surveyors
• Issue transport instructions and check shipping documents: Bills of Lading, Letters of Credit, Customs and excise and dangerous goods (IMDG/ADR)
• Keep orders, stock movements and invoicing correct in our ERP, including month-end close
• Handle demurrage, claims and customer complaints, register KPIs
• Lead company effort to automate routine tasks (order entry, documents, quotations, follow-up) so to increase team focus on customer service and problem solving
• Gradually take on coordination of a team of three: planning, coaching and back-up in a context of growing activity
• Meet logistics partners and attend industry events

What you bring

You are meticulous, organised and calm under pressure, and you take pride in doing things right the first time.

Must have

• 6+ years in international chemicals logistics, bulk or packed
• Hands-on experience with chartering bulk liquids, tank-containers and DV containers
• Solid knowledge of Incoterms, ADR/IMDG, and customs and excise formalities
• Fluent English and Dutch
• A clear wish to move into people management, and a genuine interest in automation and digital tools

Nice to have

• Spanish, German or French
• Network of relations with logistics service providers in ARA
• Experience with ISO 9001, GMP+ or ISCC
• Experience with ERP implementation
