Job summary

Adyen is seeking a Java backend engineer to join the Application Services team. You will build platform-wide, high-availability building blocks used by other engineering teams and help design scalable APIs.

You will collaborate with product managers and engineers to identify common capabilities and drive improvements across the payment platform. The role emphasizes operating in live production, deploying with CI/CD, monitoring performance, and mentoring junior colleagues as part of a distributed

Qualifications

5+ years of backend software development experience.
Proficiency in Java and solid JVM understanding.
Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools.
Understanding of distributed systems.
Product-oriented approach to software development.
Willingness to operate, deploy, and troubleshoot live production apps.

Responsibilities

Develop foundational applications that other teams integrate into their services.
Drive medium-sized development projects with collaboration across engineers and stakeholders.
Identify common capabilities needed by other teams for their business applications.
Design and evolve APIs used across the company in partnership with engineers.
Architect resilient solutions spanning multiple data centers for high availability.
Manage deployment and monitoring of live applications and track performance metrics.
