Job summary

Adyen is hiring a Software Engineer (Java) for the Unified Platform in Amsterdam. You will work on a distributed backend that unifies accounting, billing, and pricing with scalable APIs and tooling.

You’ll contribute to high‑quality code, improve platform robustness, and ship features used by merchants worldwide. The role requires 5+ years in software development, strong Java skills, experience with REST/Web services, and proficiency in English.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems and backend services.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Data Science, Frontend and Product teams.

Responsibilities

• Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production.
• Be hands-on and contribute to the implementation.
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
• Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.
• Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features.
• We launch fast and iterate often with live functionalities impacting merchants.
