Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Senior IT Network Engineer to join our Eindhoven team. You will design, implement, and maintain complex LAN/WAN networks in an Agile DevOps environment, co-owning the network product roadmap with Product Owners and Architects.

You should have 8+ years in enterprise networking, fluent English (Dutch preferred), and hands-on experience with Aruba CX, Aruba ClearPass, Check Point, F5, and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible (AWX), and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Network Engineering, CS, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of IT networking experience in enterprise environments.
• Fluent in English; Dutch preferable.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, VLANs, VPNs.
• Hands-on with Aruba CX, Aruba Wireless, Aruba ClearPass; Check Point and F5 ADCs.
• Experience with WAN technologies and SD-WAN; automation via Terraform, Ansible, Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures (LAN, WAN, WLAN).
• Lead within the agile team and co-own the network product roadmap with Product Owners and Architects.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of network-related epics and features within the ART.
• Review high- and low-level network architectures focusing on security and performance.
• Implement and enforce modern security frameworks (Zero-Trust, NIS2, ISO27001).
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize global network performance and availability.
• Lead complex network changes, migrations, and incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into secure network solutions.
• Drive automation and CI/CD using Infrastructure as Code; work with Terraform, AWX Ansible, Python, Atlassian suite.
• Act as escalation point and liaise with vendors on complex issues; document configurations for knowledge sharing.

The Position

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior IT Network Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Eindhoven.

As a Senior IT Network Engineer, you will play a key role within an Agile Network Product Team. Working in a DevOps environment, you will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing network solutions.

As a Senior IT Network Engineer, your main tasks will include:

• Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures (LAN, WAN, WLAN)
• Lead within the agile team and co-own the network product roadmap alongside Product Owners and Architects
• Contribute to the design and delivery of network-related epics and features within the Agile Release Train (ART)
• Review and refine high- and low-level network architectures with a focus on security, performance, and user experience
• Implement and enforce modern security frameworks (Zero-Trust, NIS2, ISO27001)
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize global network performance and availability
• Lead complex network changes, migrations, and incident resolution
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into secure network solutions
• Drive automation and continuous improvement using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
• Work with tools such as Terraform, AWX Ansible, Python, and the Atlassian suite
• Act as a technical escalation point and liaise with vendors on complex issues
• Document network configurations and ensure knowledge sharing across teams

Your profile

• Completed bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in IT networking within enterprise environments
• Fluent in English, Dutch is preferable
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, VLANs, VPNs
• Hands‑on experience with Aruba CX (switching/routing), Aruba Wireless, and Aruba ClearPass
• Experience with Check Point firewalls and F5 Application Delivery Controllers
• Familiarity with WAN technologies such as Internet, IPsec VPN, and SD‑WAN
• Proven experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible (AWX), NetBox, and Python
• Strong understanding of security standards and frameworks (Zero‑Trust, NIS2, ISO27001)
• Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments and participating in agile ceremonies
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP or equivalent) are highly desirable
