Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an Infrastructure Network Engineer in the Netherlands to design, implement, and support IT infrastructure solutions across complex environments. You will configure PCs, switches, and software environments, manage Linux-based systems, and automate deployments while documenting procedures and collaborating with engineering teams.

The role requires a degree in a computer-related field, Linux and networking experience, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a computer-related field.
• Experience with Linux environments, preferably Red Hat Linux.
• Hands-on network installation, configuration and support experience.
• Experience installing and configuring complex software applications.
• Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible.
• Experience creating technical and user documentation.
• Familiarity with hardware setup including PCs, switches, cabling, infra components.
• Basic scripting or programming knowledge (Python, C, or C++ is a plus).
• Strong problem-solving and proactive mindset.
• Team player with excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).

As part of our growing team, we are looking for a talented Infrastructure Network Engineer to join us and contribute to exciting, high-impact projects in complex and innovative technology environments. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting IT infrastructure solutions that enable critical systems and applications to operate reliably and efficiently.

As an Infrastructure Network Engineer, your main tasks will include:

• Designing and implementing IT and network infrastructure solutions
• Configuring and maintaining PCs, switches, network equipment, and software environments
• Installing, configuring, and supporting large software packages and applications
• Managing Linux-based environments and infrastructure components
• Automating deployment and configuration activities using modern tooling
• Creating and maintaining technical and user documentation
• Troubleshooting infrastructure and network-related issues
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful system integration and delivery

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO) in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Informatics, or a related field
• Experience with Linux environments, preferably Red Hat Linux
• Hands-on experience with network installation, configuration, and support
• Experience installing and configuring complex software applications
• Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible
• Experience creating technical and user documentation
• Familiarity with hardware setup, including PCs, switches, cabling, and infrastructure components
• Basic knowledge of scripting or programming languages such as Python, C, or C++ is considered a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
