Job summary

ALTEN in the Netherlands seeks a technically skilled Project Engineer to translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions and guide projects from the initial request through first production. You will read drawings for manufacturability and coordinate samples and validation while aligning with international locations to ensure quality and lead times.

You will liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments, providing technical support to account managers and inside sales,

Job description

In this role, you are responsible for translating customer requirements into technically feasible solutions and guiding projects from initial request through to first production. You will work on applications such as sensors, automation equipment, medical devices, and industrial systems, often in high-mix, low-to-medium volume environments.

Your main tasks will include:

• Translate customer requests into technically feasible and manufacturable solutions
• Assess technical drawings and specifications for manufacturability
• Guide projects from initial request through to first production (NPI)
• Coordinate samples, prototypes, and validation activities
• Align with colleagues at our (international) manufacturing locations to ensure manufacturability, quality, and lead time
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to keep projects on track
• Provide technical support to account managers and inside sales
• Monitor priorities and progress across multiple concurrent projects
• Ensure timely follow‑up and obtain required information from stakeholders

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within a technical field
• You are able to read technical drawings and assess them for manufacturability
• You maintain oversight in a dynamic environment with multiple projects running simultaneously
• You work in a structured manner and are able to set clear priorities
• You are proactive in gathering information and are not afraid to ask follow‑up questions
• You take ownership and are capable of independently managing projects
• You have a good command of Dutch and English; German is a plus
• You are willing to travel internationally a few times per year, depending on project and customer needs
