Job summary

Datashift in the Netherlands is seeking an experienced Senior Data Lead to guide clients across their data journey, from platform choices to data quality and governance, joining our Rotterdam team.

You’ll mentor the consulting team, own end-to-end delivery of data projects, shape service offerings, and collaborate with our Belgian practice to stay sharp in the market.

Fluency in Dutch and English is required to communicate with stakeholders across client teams and executives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with a strong consulting background.
• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, AWS).
• Experience with data governance, tooling (e.g. Collibra) and practical governance adoption.

Datashift is a fast-growing consultancy team focused on solving real business problems with data. In early 2025, we opened our Rotterdam office to deepen our support for clients in the Netherlands and keep growing.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Lead to join that team. You’ll guide clients across their data journey, from platform choices to data quality and governance. You’re the kind of person who gets things done and brings others along.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients on their data roadmap. Help clients translate data challenges into a concrete, prioritized plan of action. You know which approach fits which situation, and you can explain that clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor the consulting team. You lead by example. You mentor junior consultants, set direction on client projects, and create an environment where people can grow.
• Drive data project delivery. Own execution end-to-end. Data platform work, data quality initiatives, governance projects. You keep things moving and make sure outcomes stick.
• Shape service offerings. Together with the Domain Lead, you build best practices and accelerators, contribute to internal knowledge sharing, and help Datashift stay sharp in the market.

Job requirements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience. Strong consulting background with commercial responsibilities and a track record of managing client relationships.
• Data Engineering & Platforms. Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, AWS). You’ve built things, not just advised on them.
• Data Governance experience. You’ve guided at least one date governance/quality project at a client. You understand the principles, the tooling (e.g. Collibra), and the organizational side of making governance work in practice.
• Team management. You’ve mentored junior staff and managed multiple engagements in parallel.
• Communication. Fluent in Dutch and English.
