Job summary

Datashift, a fast-growing data consultancy, opened an office in Rotterdam to support clients in the Netherlands. We are seeking a skilled Data Governance Consultant to guide clients in optimizing data governance practices.

You will advise on governance frameworks, collaborate with business and IT stakeholders, and implement projects (e.g., Collibra). Fluency in English and Dutch is required, 3–5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in data management, analytics, engineering, or BI.
• Consulting & client engagement skills to assess requirements, deliver solutions, and support change management.
• Hands-on experience with data governance platforms (Collibra preferred).
• Technical proficiency with SQL, APIs, and data integration concepts; scripting in Python or Groovy is a plus.
• Excellent English and Dutch communication.

Datashift is a very fast-growing consultancy team with a focus on delivering solutions that answer business questions with data and facts. In early 2025, we opened an office in Rotterdam to strengthen our support for clients in the Netherlands and drive our continued growth.

For one of our fastest growing practices, we are looking for a skilled Data Governance Consultant. In this role, you will play a crucial role in guiding our clients in optimizing the benefits of data solutions.

Responsibilities

Advise clients on data governance best practices – Guide organizations in defining and implementing data governance initiatives, helping them structure policies, roles, and processes.

Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders – Bridge the gap between technical teams and business users, facilitating workshops to understand client challenges, drive adoption, and demonstrate the value of data governance initiatives.

Implement data governance projects – Work closely with clients on data governance projects, including configuration of data governance platforms (e.g. Collibra).

Assess & improve data governance practices – Evaluate clients’ existing data governance maturity, recommend improvements, and assist in implementing scalable solutions that enhance data quality, lineage, and compliance.

Job requirements

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience – Background in data management, analytics, engineering, or BI, with an interest in transitioning into or deepening expertise in data governance.

Consulting & client engagement skills – Preferably, experience working with external clients (or internal stakeholders) to assess requirements, deliver solutions, and support change management.

Hands-on experience with data governance platforms – Experience with Collibra is preferred, but experience in other data catalog, metadata management, or governance platforms is also valuable.

Technical proficiency – Familiarity with SQL, APIs, and data integration concepts (e.g. ELT); experience with scripting (Python, Groovy) for workflow automation is considered a plus.

Communication – Fluent in English and Dutch.
