Job summary

Valcon is seeking a Data Specialist to act as the technical authority for data strategies in the financial services sector. You will design complex data solutions, align business requirements with technical implementation, and guide clients toward fully data-driven organisations.

You will mentor colleagues, lead data projects, and engage with directors on data architecture and governance, while staying current with analytics tools and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree completed.
• 8+ years of experience, with 4+ years in Finance or Risk data-teams.
• Hands-on data delivery for Finance, Risk, or regulatory reporting.
• Strong Python and SQL knowledge.
• Experience with data solutions for modelling or regulatory reporting in a regulated context.
• Knowledge of BCBS-239, Basel, IFRS9 or Solvency regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design complex, scalable data solutions for risk and finance modelling and reporting.
• Guide clients in journeys to become fully data-driven organisations.
• Mentor senior specialists and share knowledge through training and coaching.
• Engage in strategic sessions and advise on data architecture with stakeholders.
