The Role
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers.
- Own data ingestion pipelines, transformation workflows, and data warehouse orchestration.
- Design and evolve scalable data models that support analytical and business needs.
- Drive automation across data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Establish engineering best practices across CI/CD, testing, code review, and deployment.
- Own data quality, monitoring, observability, and incident management processes.
- Develop and govern a semantic layer to ensure consistency of business metrics.
- Optimise platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across product, analytics, engineering, and senior leadership teams.
- Evaluate and implement modern tooling, including AI-assisted engineering workflows where appropriate.
- Define platform roadmaps and communicate priorities, risks, and trade-offs to senior stakeholders.
Your Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience leading Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Data Platform teams.
- Deep expertise in data warehousing, data modelling, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong knowledge of ELT/ETL design, orchestration frameworks, and transformation tools such as dbt and Airflow or similar technologies.
- Experience building and maintaining reliable, large-scale data platforms.
- Strong understanding of data quality, observability, testing, monitoring, and data governance practices.
- Experience implementing software engineering principles including CI/CD, version control, automated testing, and code review.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with technical decision-making.
- Experience managing platform costs, performance optimisation, and operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passion for developing high-performing engineering teams and creating a strong engineering culture.
