You will drive scalable data solutions, productionise data products, and provide technical direction while remaining hands-on. This role offers autonomy in a hybrid Amsterdam setup and exposure to AI programmes.

This is an opportunity for a Staff Data Engineer to take ownership of large-scale data platform challenges within a highly data-driven organisation. You will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, helping shape the future of a modern data platform while enabling teams across the business through self-service capabilities, platform tooling, and AI-focused initiatives.

The Role

As a Staff Data Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and evolution of a modern data platform.

Responsibilities include:

• Driving the design and implementation of scalable data platform solutions.
• Building and enhancing self-service capabilities for engineering and data teams.
• Developing, productionising, and supporting data products in a cloud-based environment.
• Providing technical leadership across complex engineering initiatives.
• Translating business and stakeholder requirements into actionable technical solutions.
• Collaborating with engineering, product, and non-technical stakeholders to deliver value.
• Supporting platform reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Providing technical direction and context to teams while maintaining a hands-on engineering contribution.
• Driving strategic initiatives through to successful delivery.

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering.
• Proven experience building and productionising solutions within Databricks.
• Experience working with Spark in large-scale data environments.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Strong understanding of platform engineering principles and best practices.
• Experience designing and operating data platforms in production environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering direction.
• Ability to operate effectively within cross-functional environments and drive outcomes through collaboration.
• AWS and/or GCP.
• Data platform tooling and enablement.
• Experience supporting AI and machine learning initiatives.
