Job summary

Harnham is seeking an Analytics Engineering Manager in Amsterdam to own and scale a company-wide data platform powering critical product and business decisions. You will lead a team, drive reliability and performance, and partner with senior leadership to shape data strategy.

The role emphasizes ownership of ETL/ELT pipelines, data modelling, semantic definitions, and cost-aware cloud platform management to deliver trusted data at scale.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading data or analytics engineering teams in complex environments.
  • Deep expertise in data warehousing, data modelling and large-scale processing.
  • Proven experience with ELT/ETL pipelines and orchestration tools.
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, GCP).
  • Strong focus on data quality, observability and monitoring.
  • Ability to drive cost optimisation in cloud data environments.
  • Effective communicator to translate complex concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • Track record of balancing leadership, delivery and hands-on contribution.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end data platform including ingestion pipelines, modelling and warehouse orchestration.
  • Lead and develop a team of analytics and data engineers, setting standards and growth.
  • Drive automation across data workflows to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure high data quality through monitoring, testing and robust data contracts.
  • Design and govern a semantic layer for consistent metric definitions.
  • Optimize warehouse performance and manage cost efficiency at scale.
  • Establish engineering best practices including CI/CD, version control and code quality.

Job description

This is a high-impact Analytics Engineering Manager role focused on building and scaling a data platform that underpins critical product and business decisions. You will lead a team while shaping a modern data environment operating at significant scale, with a strong emphasis on reliability, performance and trust in data.

The Role

Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience leading data or analytics engineering teams in a complex environment
  • Deep expertise in data warehousing, data modelling and large-scale data processing
  • Proven experience with ELT and ETL pipelines and orchestration tools such as Airflow and dbt
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or GCP
  • Strong understanding of data quality, observability and monitoring practices
  • Experience driving cost optimisation within cloud data environments
  • Confident communicator, able to translate technical concepts to senior stakeholders
  • Track record of balancing leadership, delivery and hands‑on technical contribution
