Job summary

Booking.com in Amsterdam seeks a Senior Accountant to own end-to-end month-end close for PbB accounting scope, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP and regulations. You will collaborate across Payments Operations, Finance, Product, Engineering, and Tax to resolve issues and drive process improvements.

The role combines hands-on close execution with analytical review, control ownership, and stakeholder engagement, supporting audits and regulatory requests while maintaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional qualification or certification such as CIMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a complex, international, or technology-enabled environment
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and related accounting principles

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end month-end close activities for the PbB accounting scope
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and post journal entries
• Maintain complete and accurate general ledger balances and reconcile to sub-ledgers
• Investigate reconciling items, aged balances, and variances; drive resolution with stakeholders
• Prepare detailed analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and close documentation
• Support internal and external audits, statutory reporting, and regulatory requests
• Act as SME for payment accounting and month-close topics
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reconciliation coverage, and process automation
